+1 for "Ender's Game". I enjoyed it even reading it as an adult. I would also recommend reading "The Hobbit" & the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy if you haven't already. However, I must admit that I always hate reading a book after the watching the movie. I also really enjoyed the "Dune" series up until "Chapterhouse" (book 5 or 6). If you enjoy fantasy & science fiction you'll be wise to visit flea markets & just purchase & read the weirdest **** that you can find. That's pretty much how I discovered Robert Silverberg ("Hawksbill Station", "The Majipoor Chronicles", "The World Inside", etc.), who I've grown to love.
P.S. If you ever want to read a depressing book that'll make you want to blow your brains out, give "Return From The Stars" by Stanislaw Lem a read.
