AVI to SWF? Flash help needed

I've googled and everything but can't find something that would convert an avi to swf. My problem is that I made a movie in flash and it works fine, but when I publish it as an html or something the music is out of sync. The only time it isn't is if I save it as a .avi.... Any ideas?

That is one of the great truths in life. Ok, maybe not a great truth, but that is the way it is.

Did you use FlashMX or Swish to make your flash animation? I didn't think FlashMX would do it and I'm told that the new version of Swish isn't supposed to do it either.

To convert AVI to SWF would be converting a raster art to vector art, and while it could be done, it would be extremely bloated and of poor quality. While you're in flash and its still a FLA, is the audio and video in sync? Have you tried making a loading screen for the animation so it won't start till the file is completely loaded? That might help.

Use synchronised Effect in your sound setting to force flash to pace the animation to the sound as opposed to event effect which you have left by default which plays the sound independently of the timeline.
You could also publish as a Quicktime movie which should work as well as an avi and you can embed it in an HTML page.

After playing around with it a bit today, I've found that my swf and html versions are all playing it at 10 frames per second, but when it's open in flash it playes at 12 frames per second. The whole reason it's out of sync is because when it gets saved as a .swf it plays at 10fps and thats too slow. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] I'm really annoyed by this...

Oh yeah and when I try to publish it as a quicktime file it says "The installed version of quicktime does not have a handler for this type of macromedia flash movie. Please consult the documentation for more information." What documentation? I have the latest version of quicktime....

I know that in flash 4 you were able to specify export framerate.

As for quicktime, you may need the pro version to get the encoder. And SlingsRat, you can embed avi.
