wii remote issue
2010-12-01, 1:16 PM #1
My son has been playing wii-play and has recently asked me to play with him. The issue I'm having is that when I point the remote at the center of the screen, the cursor shows up about 6 inches below where I'm pointing. Coincidentally, the sensor bar is 6 inches below the bottom of my screen. I have the wii set to to expect the sensor bar below the screen. Is there a way to get rid of the discrepancy?

I don't have a Wii but can't you calibrate the controllers?

Are you old? Old people always have trouble with videogame controls. Have you tried to not be old?

Solutions:

1. Put it on the top of the TV.
2. Try setting it as being on top when it's not.
3. Get used to it.

The last time I played the wii it was on my old 32" standard def tv. So seriously, how do you play games where you have to point at the tv but the pointer doesn't point where you point it? That's insane.

The wii-remote is not a lightgun. It will not correlate exactly with the screen ever. That's why they have an onscreen reticle. Look at it, not the controller.

And the farther from the screen it's actually sitting, the less accurate it will be... Sit it directly on top of the TV for best results.

There's no way to calibrate a wii remote. The only option is to set the sensor bar position. It's ridiculous.

I didn't realize there was a new one out... maybe my 14 year old finally grew out of it?

Pretty much this. Learn to deal with it and don't treat the pointing literally.

Do you get annoyed when your mouse doesn't point wherever you aim it on the computer as well? I mean, seriously, it's the same idea.

Could be worse, took me a long time to realize that a lamp in the other room was causing mine to jump all over the screen.

So I get fanboism and all that, but seriously? Every time the cursor goes off the screen it flashes "P1 POINT THE WII REMOTE AT THE SCREEN!" It doesn't say, "move the cursor back onto the screen using the pointer-shaped mouse-like device."

Try syncing it again?

I hate the wii remote. I haven't played with the stupid wii since 2008.
