My video card (nvidia geforce 9600 gt) seems to be encountering overheating problems that others have encountered with it, found through my internets researches, and I'm thinking about getting a new one. My budget is roughly $100. So I ask you massassi:

What video card would you buy if you had a $100 budget? My PC is sufficent enough to use any card that Windows 7 will allow.

ps: if you have a magical fix for this overheating problem, I'd appreciate it. It ran flawlessly for about a year, but a month ago it started crashing mid-game after about 20 minutes of playing (WoW and Battlefield BC2). The screen goes black and there is a looped game sound when it happens. Found others with the same problem but no definite fixes. Drivers are also up to date.

100 bucks? whatever the local computer store has. Maybe they have something on clearance.

As always, I gotta ask what the rest of your system is like (cpu/mem/psu)?

Tigerdirect has a deal ending today on 9800gt ($60 FS) if you were just looking for a little upgrade.

Use the coupon code: ZTG13891

If your system is capable of supporting something with a little more power, I would watch Newegg's refurbish/openbox offerings. There I regularly see stuff like GTS250's, GTS450, 5750's sometimes dipping under $100.

I just got a Radeon HD4870 in october that really has kicked ass. It has handled most anything I throw at it With very high settings (although usually I run at 1680x1050). I would think those would be ~100 now especially with rebates. However I have no clue if it's getting near outdated yet so you may want to ask someone with more hardware lifecycle awareness, heh. I May have heard that nvidia is about to release a new series cards, but I'm unsure if any of them are budget oriented.
