Humble Indie Bundle #2

The last one was pretty cool; here's another. Pay what you want for some games that all run on mac/windows/linux.

Nice, maybe I'll grab a bag. Average contribution is pretty pathetic... If people can't give at least 10 bucks for this set then they should be kicked in the head.

Average Windows: $5.76 (Paid a lot for OS + AV, no money left)
Average Mac: $7.70 (Paid a lot for OS, didn't need AV, not a lot of money left)
Average Linux: $14.17 (Didn't pay for OS, lots of extra money)

Cortex Command is so damn awesome.

I'm so addicted to this game I'm not even trying the other ones..

Who the hell buys windows?
2010-12-14, 4:12 PM #9
Uh, everyone who buys the most popular PCs on earth from virtually any retailer.
2010-12-14, 4:30 PM #10
Average Windows: $5.76 (Already have tons of games)
Average Mac: $7.70 (Want more games)
Average Linux: $14.17 (Will practically self-fund indies to get a few playable games)
2010-12-14, 4:54 PM #11
Haha that may be accurate.

But they don't pay for windows, the OEM does. Sure you can argue that the price gets passed back down to consumers, but that's silly.

But the price does get passed down. This laptop I'm on right now, sans OS, was $150 cheaper.

Yeah, sorry, but that argument is dumb.

And other people pay for Windows too, because you know, we actually support the software industry and don't feel like we deserve everything for free.

I haven't used ANY pirated software since I was in high school. When you have a job, why steal what you can afford?

Your argument that the argument is silly is silly.

To stick it THE MAN, dude. Of course. Windows is so overpriced, you have to pay $100-$200 every 4ish years if you find id absolutely necessary to run the latest OS. Why not just make a statement and pirate it instead?
I had a blog. It sucked.
2010-12-15, 1:53 PM #18
Awwww, I was hoping this release would have one of the games I missed out on the first time around. Oh well.

-I guess I'll just have to wait for that Lugaru sequel to come out. Any time now. Any time.

I think it's also interesting to point out that, while windows users paid, on average, about half of what the Linux users were paying, they have also sold about 2x more to Windows.

And mac just sucks. :p

probably the most valid points here...

higher number of people in a specific group the better your chances of finding dicks who will only pay a penny in said group

Maybe, but how many of them would have pirated it otherwise? Better than nothing.

That too. Having people paying a little is better than nothing.

If you buy windows you don't need to spend money on an AV.
2010-12-15, 7:57 PM #26
You really don't. Even Microsoft has a free, good and unobtrusive AV solution.

Even then, you don't need it if you're not an idiot.

Definitely agreed on the AV. It took me weeks of convincing my parents that they too didn't actually need their ISP-provided AV with a monthly fee...
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Only nerds like us would find enough contentiousness in the opportunity for cheap games to turn it into a debate. :)
2010-12-16, 9:48 AM #31
I threw in $5, one I already own one of the games and 2 I already donated to the childs play! :P

Osmos is a really good game. Cortex Command is a good game. The other three are pretty crap in my opinion, but might be your cup of tea if you especially like defense tower games or point 'n click adventures.
