Help me choose a new desk.
2010-12-25, 3:40 PM #1
For Christmas my parents offered to fit most of the bill in getting me a new computer desk, so long as:
It's bought local
Price around 200-250 dollars

So, now I have to wade through the sea of desks and find one that's good. If you guys can help me I would be very appreciative. I haven't found any that have caught my eye yet, so if you could please recommend some specifics or tell me what you have that would be nice.

From Staples, I found this, which looks pretty nice.
Budget is a negotiable thing, because im not exactly flat broke so I can pay whatever goes over.

I really want a folding one because I have an irrational need to be able to fit all of my possessions into the back of a truck (which I don't own).

Am I the only one that really cannot stand keyboard/mouse slider trays?

I really want one so I can put my giant-ass joystick above it in a comfortable position.

I think you should get a used desk though.

Im with Vin. Craigslist it up. If you can find a flat top executive desk that would be boss. Those are super nice and have plenty of space to do whatever you want to them.

Normally I might agree but I like the one on the desk I recently bought. It runs nearly the full width of the desk so it is more of a usable space that happens to slide rather than something that get's in the way of using the desk. I'm also sort of a less is more kind of guy now when it comes to furniture. For now I am using some old microwave carts to house the external peripherals.

The problem I have with alot of keyboard trays is that they are uncomfortably too low. Feels unnatural for me.

Ugh, I can't stand keyboard trays either, my keyboard has to be on the same plain as my monitor.

This is the desk I bought from staples, nothing special just cheap and lots of desk space
