I can't believe a college would give you that much upload speed. The download speed is average from what I've experienced.

My school seems to cap upload for the residential side. I seem to get capped anywhere between 15 and 50, it's odd. I believe registering on the academic network (either carry your PC or know someone in ITS) removes that cap.

Measured the download on my server in my apartment using remote desktop. The download was no less than 90. I'm pretty sure I'm hitting a cap on the server. Edit: Yep, just hit over 110 from a different server. Using segmented downloading I've gotten over 30 MB/sec from the internet before (240 Mbps).

Recently for whatever reason the wifi in my building has gone insane

The ethernet is still comparatively slow though (like ~500KB/s download)

Holy crap, pommy - I didn't even know you could get wireless working that fast....I guess N does make a difference. :P

That was from a staff PC - not sure if everyone gets that or not.

It's a 10/1 Mb connection. The upload could be closer to its nominal speed, but whatever.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Are you still at RIT?

I remember the network in the dorms over break when I was there... it was insane.

Even when school was in session, I could regularly hit 5 MB/sec...
