What is likely slowing me down in this situation?

In chrome I have about 60 - 70 tabs open and I'm trying to CTRL-TAB through them all very quickly while clicking one button on each. The problem is after I get through about 5-10 tabs things get slow and when I get to a new tab it's all white for a couple seconds then the web page shows up. I know it's only a couple seconds but with that many open that I need to shoot through it slows my tasks down considerably.

I did it with task manager open and my memory is only at about 2 GB out of 4 and my CPU usuage never goes over 40%.

Core i5 750
Windows 7
Geforce GTX 460
4GB RAM

Am I just hitting the limit of the browser?

The browser is probably throwing away the rendered cache of the page with so many tabs open. Considering your RAM it's probably just the way the browser is designed.

Can I ask what you're doing with 60 tabs and clicking a button on each page? Maybe there's a better way

And in Chrome too, must be annoying having a completely useless tab bar.

Get over it CM =p
You can't judge a book by it's file size

eBay stuff.........editing multiple listings, shipping multiple/large orders, leaving mass feedback, etc etc etc...............

Of course there is a better way, there are a ton of 3rd party programs for eBay stuff, but I just don't feel like paying for them and/or setting them up. Especially when I've mastered the art of opening a hundred tabs at once and cycling through doing the same thing to each one quickly. I just need a browser that cooperates :-p

That's some... serious mass feedback...???

IS THIS SOME KINDA SCAM

Are there any extensions or userscripts (greasemonkey) that would work here?

Also why are you wasting 60% of your cpu?

I think it's exactly what CM said. I don't know about Chrome, but with Firefox you can specify exactly how much cache to use and force it to use ram as cache exclusively.

Alternatively you could create a ramdisk and have Chrome's diskcache use that instead of the harddrive.

I was under the impression that you could leave mass feedback from one page on ebay.
TAKES HINTS JUST FINE, STILL DOESN'T CARE

The tabs take a while to load for the same reason that people who disable the Windows pagefile to improve game performance are really stupid.

what sort of *ick has 60+ tabs open? :psyduck: i refuse to open more than 5. yknow, just because, any more would be indecent.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

I have basically every page I read in a few bookmark folders, so I often have 30 or 40 tabs open at once. There's nothing wrong with it.

Linux copes with it the best.

What do you mean? I don't claim to know how it all works. I just figured it meant the CPU was handling everything getting thrown at it with computing power to spare.

Not in anyway saying you need more ram, but a lead in to newegg's latest deal. You guys notice how cheap ddr3 is getting now-a-days?

Newegg has a shellshocker deal right now:

http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx?cm_sp=ShellShocker-_-20-226-094-_-12292010

4gb DDR3 PC3-10666 for $39.99 FS - 15% of Code (DKMEM15) = $33.99 FS
Limit 3 per customer.

12gb for just over $100. Makes me wonder how long before the memory standard changes or prices jump again. I almost want to stockpile.
