Help me burn some time on an old computer.

I dissembled my old desk waiting for a new one to arrive, I didn't know it was on backorder until just now. My new, fancy, quad core super computer used that desk and I simply can't be assed to put it all back together just to play some STALKER and then tear it down again, plus the old desk is pretty much broken now.

I do however, have an arsenal of computers available including the station I was letting my brother use, it's got Windows 98SE with some unholy amalgation of XP and ME files that allow it to run some programs designed for XP (Such as Firefox 3.6) that I installed because the newest Diablo II boxset release won't install properly on Windows 98.

Beyond gloating about my chimera of an operating system, I need suggestions of what to play on it for the next few days while I wait for my desk and a return to Windows 7/DirectX11 gaming bliss. Jedi Knight is an obvious one, but I've done it to death over the last little while.

I've been playing a **** ton of Unreal Tournament, Diablo 2, and Red Faction 1 with my friends over LAN lately. Maybe try them online? Doom, ZDoom, GZDoom, etc. Morrowind. HL1.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I would play HL1 if I could get bloody steam to work, but it's looking for files and hooks that I simply can't hack in. RF1 is a fantastic idea though, I think I still have my disk too.

Serious Sam! I've been playing Serious Sam HD lately and it's fun.

Sacrifice would work well on that system. It's a 3rd person rpg/rts thing. Or Soul Reaver2. Any of the PC Mech Warrior games would probably work on it as well.

You could try some of the old lucasarts point-and-click adventure games.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is pretty epic, as is Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle.
My blawgh.

So, I ordered a Pentium III 1.4 Ghz to replace the 900 mhz in this, it was only 7 dollars so what the hell.
Guess we'll see if it gets here before the desk. Anyone want to try and see if System Shock 2 MP works with modern systems? It might work 98-XP, but I doubt if 7 can join in the fun.

Now this is an excellent idea. Tibby, 2011 is the year we make you into a man.

Don't worry FGR this year we're gonna find you a girl too. A nice lady who likes the electronic stylings of Jean Michel Jarre and who will appreciate your artistic side.

See, it's a joke Tracer. "Artistic" sounds similar to "autistic," so I used that observation to poke childish fun at FGR through means given by your statement.

Quake 3? Maybe try overclocking the processor/video card, and benchmark? Play some classic DOS games?

Also not a bad idea, considering that the first full beta of DarkXL should be released soon.

(Meaning that you can run Dark Forces properly with new systems and even play it in high resolutions for all it's worth)

You should take a break from gaming until your new desk arrives. There's an endless amount of things to burn that time on.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
