Is my favorite Tony Bennett song... but over the past week this story has developed and I'm sure some of you have already heard it. I first saw it a few days ago on a local forum, and a story was written in the Columbus Dispatch(news paper). Then it was on multiple local radio stations and last night I saw it on ESPN. His life has changed over the past week.

It's a great story but it's unfortunate how people will latch on to this kind of story to suggest that "anyone can make the American Dream!" yeah right. This guy got really ****ing lucky.

Yeah. Like every homeless person out there has this amazing undiscovered skill.

I just spent 8 hours dealing with the homeless at work. I think a good half of them were really good actors.

I don't expect most people to make a distinction.

guy also has his own wiki page now...clearly he's made it ;)

It's a nice story, sounds like he has himself to blame for getting into that position and he's well aware of it.

When I first checked out the wiki page last night there was a reference to his criminal record (it's since been removed), which although not great, is nothing you probably wouldn't expect from a guy who was hooked on drugs+alcohol for 15-20 years.

Well now that he is going to have some money in his pocket and the "fame". Lets see how long it takes before he is back to the drugs and alcohol.. lol

What a lovely story. Here's hoping he can keep his life back on track!

Homeless people always scare me in this regard, it's like they've had a life at some moment but then something just happened and all was lost. Maybe I'll get to be one of them in the future! Hoo-haw!

It's a bit of a trap. See, they need a job so they can get a place to stay, and a shower, and clean themselves up. But they need a place to stay and to clean themselves up so they can get a job.

It's like the people who live in motels. The motel is more expensive than an apartment, but the apartment demands a security deposit up front.
