Since I was a little kid I've wanted stormtrooper armor. I've looked into it a bit but wasn't sure where a trusted place to buy any would be.
Does anyone here have any experience in this sort of thing.

Also, post novelty items you wish you had the excess finances for.

If I had Boba Fett armor, I would never take it off, even for showers and sex.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Now that I think about it, I'm really surprised they don't mass-produce stormtrooper or Boba Fett armor. I wouldn't imagine it would be that costly to make, and I'm guessing there's a pretty big market for them.

A pretty big market? Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have a set of stormtrooper armor as much as the next star wars nerd, but I'd hardly call it a big market for something that would probably cost several hundred dollars to manufacture.

Actually, they're dirt cheap to make and the market is huge!

Hmmm, my neighbor owns a full legit suit of Stormtrooper armor, and apparently there's a club around here that regularly gets together to discuss all things Stormtrooper armor. If you want some more info Phantom, I could give you his email address.

Look up the 501st. They're this group of guys making clone and stormtrooper armours. They even sell 'build-it-yourself' kits... I met some guys in stormtrooper armours at a comic con. One of them even talked through a speaker, with the genuine stormtrooper sound and click. It was hilarious.

They came up to me because I was wearing my Boba Fett armour hoodie, haha. So I asked them if they built it themselves, and they said they ordered the kits from the 501st guys. Looked really great. I think you might even be able to order kits for the weapons.

Just checked it. They don't provide kits because of copyright reasons. The only way to join is to already have armor. Hmm.

One collectible I've always kinda wanted, but know I can never have, is a playbill for the original Bela Lugosi stage performance of Dracula.

-Also, I didn't know the 501st stopped selling kits, that's odd.

Weird. It's exactly what they told me though, that they'd ordered some kits via the 501st. It's an international thing though, maybe the 501st in The Netherlands sell kits, and in the USA they don't?

Or maybe the 501st hooked them up with someone who does sell kits? Strange.

The 501st doesn't sell kits, but if you go to the forums for the division (stormies, pilots, officers, etc) there's a lot of resources for making your own.

Last time I looked for armor online they were going for $1,000 or so on ebay, and there's a couple places where you can get parts of the suit, but not the whole thing (linky)

What's the point of Stormtrooper armor anyways (besides looking cool)? They appear to die just as easily as someone with no armor.
? :)

I have stormtrooper.

That guy you saw with the radio paid over $2000 for that whole costume.

I haven't finished mine and I'm up to about $1375.

Well, probably a lot of them that took shots in the chest and torso just got knocked out, and would have survived had they not then fallen off the incredibly high things they always stand on in these movies.

-I mean, just because they fall over doesn't mean they're dead.

That neighbor with the Stormtrooper suit actually has this framed in his living room. He's got me beat with Star Wars nerdiness.
