Jedi and Alcohol Consumption

Was thinking about this the other day...do Jedi drink? In the movies we only see Obi-Wan order a beverage..and I'm pretty sure that was only to trick Zam into trying to kill him. Kyle Katarn does..but thats expanded universe stuff..

Are Jedi allowed to drink? I would imagine not since it can cloud their judgement. They are supposed to have "the most serious mind" and always stay focused on what they are doing.

Thoughts?

I don't remember and haven't played and read all Katarn stuff but when did Jedi Katarn have a drink?

Jedi Outcast, Nar Shadda, he orders Corellian Ale..."IN A CLEAN GLASS"
2011-01-30, 7:17 PM #4
I just vaguely remember that cutscene. I remember that level for more infamous, Rodian, reasons. Still, as you point out, he asked for a clean glass. ;) There was really no Jedi Order at that point and Katarn certainly wasn't a traditional sort of Jedi. I believe there are some recently published books about the Jedi and Sith Orders. Perhaps they address the subject.

Jedi are a bunch of nutjobs if you consider that officially they aren't allowed to have emotional attachments, for whatever reason. Oh and no gays, gays don't exist in star wars.

Nothing I just decided to sperg all over this topic.
Judging by some of the decisions they made I'm guessing they were constantly drunk.

What? You think meditation and all that **** works? Yoda knocks back a 40 every night just to get to the next day. Having to train whiny padawans and dealing with the Republic's bureaucratic bull**** wears on you.

Geez, Tibby must be especially hard on Buddhist monks considering his views on Jedi.

Maybe Corellian Ale is like a Virgin Dakari?

Ooh, is that anywhere near as cool as a virgin with a daiquiri?

Identical, since both spellings are equally acceptable and used frequently.
The only drawback to daiquiri is that correcting someones spelling when they use the equally accepted word can make you look pretentious and douchey.

Um, I wasn't correcting your spelling.

Jedi probably don't drink or smoke weed. They wouldn't be very fun at a party.

Oh geeze, really?

No, I meant the dynamic devoted couple he and R2 make. It's either homosexual cyborg love, or robromance.

I think its more a personal choice, they don't seem to shy away from it but I've never heard/read any saying 'none for me, I don't drink',

Old Republic Jedi might have, but the new Jedi on the block don't seem to care as long as it isn't a problem.

Lucas said in some interview somewhere that there were no gays in the star wars universe. Which seems mildly absurd, actually.
