I have an '89 Toyota pickup with the extra cab. Currently have a Pioneer DEH-3200UB driving two 4-inch speakers. The bass sucks. I want more, but I really don't care about extreme volume/power.

Would two larger speakers in the rear be sufficient? I don't want to purchase an amp and giant subwoofer. I've seen some self powered subwoofers, but they seem pretty expensive.

I'd like something that slides under the drivers seat, but I haven't seen many options there.

Any ideas?

I think I used to have an older and less expensive version of this several years ago. Here's a selection of them but they do seem pricier than I remember.

Of course some larger speakers will give you some better sound but I think you will still be wanting. Any sub too large would be silly in your cab, in my opinion. I say get one of the smaller, self-powered subs. Just shop around on ebay or something for a deal.

How fussy are you with sound? Stepping up to halfway decent 6.5" speakers and a self-powered sub may do you just fine..I have no experience with them, but you can get a small Bazooka tube for less than $100.

I'm not very picky. I'd just like to fill in the low end a bit. Main problem is just the lack of space. I don't want to give up my rear seating.

I still don't quite understand why automotive speakers are so large. My computers sub is only 6", and sounds great to me.

I believe the sub I linked to is roughly an equivalent size.

I had two of those hooked up as the rear speakers in my 95 S10 ext cab. Two 6.5" kenwood 2-ways in the front doors that cost $50. Pioneer DEH-P6700mp head unit. Obviously not high end stuff, but it sounded good. Plenty of bass, even with the windows down.
gbk is 50 probably

Could I hook one up to play both left and right channels?
