I tweeted this today, and my co-workers said it was an "obscure reference." Do you get the joke/reference, Massassi?

Good movie! Did you all see the version with Pizza Hut or Taco Bell?

Never seen it. Boring.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

Anyone who doesn't get it should be equally baffled by the first 5 minutes (in modern time) of Austin Powers.

Hehe, funny thing is that's the first thing I read about when I googled this movie.

For some non-American releases, references to Taco Bell were changed to Pizza Hut. This includes dubbing, plus changing the logos during post-production. Taco Bell remains in the closing credits. In the Swedish release the subtitles still use Taco Bell while the sound and picture has been altered as above. The original version released in Australia (on VHS) contained Taco Bell, yet the newer version on DVD was changed both in logo and dubbing to Pizza Hut. (If you look closely at the scene where the restaurant patrons are looking through the glass windows to the fight scene outside, you can still see Taco Bell etched into the glass, even in the modified version.)

Or just regular crapping, I don't see the point in the first two seashells as described in the diagram.
Also, why the hell would the future have such a thing? I can't see how we could ever get to a point where we end up with a less convenient, more wasteful, more uncomfortable, less hygienic way of dealing with things.
Even if we were to lose all trees and thus all paper, surely there'd be better ways.

Also... in the city put forth by the movie, the people are obsessed with hygiene. The way the seashells are explained in that link, it doesn't seem very sanitary...

Fools. The diagram is the joke. The movie never explains how they work, hence the rampant speculation, and the original writer publishing a joke explanation.

Besides, they're probably just a bidet.
2011-02-09, 9:31 PM #29
Yes, I know the movie never explained how it worked, that's beside the point =p
