This is why you have other people do tattoos for you, who have years and years of experience and make their livelihood doing so.

You mean this(?) is why YOU have other people do it. Quite frankly I wouldn't try and paint the Sistine chapel and I wouldn't hire Michelangelo to paint my bedroom walls white. Its a 2"x2" X with four letters... It would not look much "better" if i paid someone 80$ to do it. If you have an issue with someone not taking the traditional rout of apprenticeing, I would be happy to take an apprenticeship... So long as it's very part time and free.

Yes! In fact I have. Our singer is joining the army so there is a fair chance we played our last show ever last Saturday. However, I have been in this band going on six years, I've played drums on two of our studio albums, and we've toured a fair amount all over the southwest. Even if we never play again I would still want a tattoo of it.

How do you think some of them got their start? Just out of thin air? Woke up one morning being able to tattoo?

What are you talking about, the tatt looks great!
I don't see how a professional could do it much better, and when it's a self-done home-job that looks this good it's something to be extra proud of.

I think this is the type of tattoo where imprecision doesn't matter. You're clearly not doing elaborate calligraphic text. It looks imprecise, but somehow that fits.

You may work under someone or you might practice on some sort of skin, but there's still nothing like doing it on an actual person.

Exactly! I know I'm not going to do a masterpiece on my first attempt at actually tattooing. So I picked something that is supposed to be as you perfectly put it "imprecise" and it actually turned out a little better than I thought it would.
