Fox insider says "stuff is just made up"

Not that this should be a surprise to anyone.

Guy talks about how they indoctrinate employees and intentionally put spin on things and even falsify information.

Do you have an extra go to 10 line or something? We all get it, Fox News sucks, you hate Fox news, etc etc

How do people not understand all of that? Okay, their loyal viewers don't, but anyone else SHOULD see that very clearly through their paper-thin and transparent veil of trying to seem like factual journalism.

Consider also that Wookie06 seems to be the only one on these forums who defends Fox News and their "hard news programming" no matter what the issue with their journalism in any specific case. This is because the majority on this forum don't base all their political views on absolutes, and most of those that do are smart enough to see when the absolutes readily provided by Fox News happen to be ridiculous.

I don't mind these threads at all because it's not like we have too much activity around here, but Steven is right on the money (whether or not his intent was entirely different) in that our discussions about Fox News will remain the same, and the only person that I know of who clearly has a deluded view of Fox News is far beyond the chance of any of us converting him.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Well said Kroko, agreed on all points. Except for the not minding part =p
Personally I'd prefer it if we went back to posting more nerdy things, like upcoming games, games that are being played, trippy space stuff, the kind of thing that used to get posted all the time. I think ever since we swung into politics everybody has stopped posting the other stuff entirely and just played pinata' with Wookie. I joined in of course, it was fun for a while and Wookie's perspective is quite hilarious, but it's gotten old.

EDIT-

That being said, it was still an interesting read >_>

To clarify, I don't watch any cable news sources. Most of what I know of the news comes from news.bbc.co.uk, or whatever local station happens to be broadcasting their news program when I go to bed - usually the local CBS or ABC station. I'm just growing weary of the stupid arguments and petty fights that are proliferating in the Discussion Forum.

Not to be one to defend Fox News in any way, but how can we trust this article? I don't doubt Fox News spins stuff, but I mean, they just say he's an insider. It could be anyone, and it could be anyone with an agenda.

Or anyone that just pays attention to the show.

I don't need an "insider" to tell me fox is bull****.
2011-02-10, 1:19 PM #13
Going along Cool Matty's comment, this website's purpose is to correct Conservative misinformation that furthers the Conservative agenda. Why should I trust this source any more than Fox News? And of course news agencies put spin on stories... have you every taken an Intro to Journalism class? To me, most American journalism is a joke, period. If you've read the book It's Not News, It's Fark: How Mass Media Tries to Pass Off Crap As News, you know what I mean.

If anything, I prefer news sources which have been accused of liberal AND conservative bias.

You don't. It's fascinating if true though, the part about indoctrination I mean, not about falsified news. We already knew that part.

“They’re a propaganda outfit but they call themselves news.”

Hah, that's what I said in the Amsterdam thread.

But then again, that was apparent to me the very first time I ever watched Fox. I remember calling my room-mates over to see it for themselves.

I just can't watch it, somehow it's hilarious and infuriatingly annoying at the same time.

What I find most humorous is that the spotlight is always put on fox, and not other obvious bull**** news networks like CNN and NBC. Ok I get that 98% of you are extreme liberals, I myself am moderate and laugh at both sides of the fence, but seriously everything you criticize the conservative networks for, the liberal ones are JUST as guilty of.

Lets make fun of something more fun, like the 700 club or the naked news.

Actually, I'm fairly critical of some of their opinion shows. I don't like Hannity's show and I tire of O'Reilly's emotional take on issues. I also think the networks use of "Fox News Alert" is ludicrous. They might as well leave it on 24/7. Straight news coverage, at least as far as television networks go, is fine in my opinion, Fox News Alert exception noted. Basically, the stuff that some people don't like about Fox News starts at 8 PM ET. I recommend switching to MSNBC for comedy at that point.

There's a lot of editorializing in the straight news, but most of it comes from special correspondents instead of the anchors themselves. Fox has a whole roster of people who make a living appearing on Fox as experts on a particular subjects, offering a conservative viewpoint via satellite feed, and disappearing again as the Fox anchor nods sagely.

Any bets on when Fox News claims that Christopher Lee was a Democrat?

Like they've done the last 8 times a Republican has resigned in disgrace.

Fox News donates hundreds of millions of dollars of free services to one (and only one) political party, and several of their highest-profile employees are active politicians (including a 2012 presidential hopeful.)

Keith Olbermann donates a few grand to a local politician and MSNBC fires him.

You are a disgusting monster. I'm glad you live in a state where your vote doesn't count.
