Steam is doing crazy specials again. A new deal for each day of the week it seems.
I just feel fortunate that I found out straight away this time.

Today's deal is Batman: Arkham Asylum, 75% off.

I already picked that up from the Christmas specials myself, but if any of you still haven't gotten around to playing it I highly recommend you consider it now, it's an awesome awesome game

And portal 2 pre-purchase!

Dang it.

Just picked up Just Cause and Just Cause 2. Not really interested in too many of the other Square Enix titles. I'd consider Hitman if they had all three on sale.

Same about the Hitman thing. Just Cause 2 I bought on release (which is a very rare thing for me) so no joy there.
Just Cause 1 I wouldn't touch with a footlong pole.
Man I hope they don't have a whole week of games I've already bought. Which sadly isn't all that unlikely... my steam collection is embarrassingly large.

Yeah, I'd heard the first one wasn't that good, but I enjoyed the demo, and figured I'd get at least $3.75 worth of entertainment out of the full game.

Yeah that's fair enough, worse case scenario you wasted a whole $3.75

Today's deal: All 3 hitman titles on steam for $7.47. Time to put my money where my mouth is.

I picked up Supreme Commander 2 and its DLC for about $6.75. Good deal.

But there's 4 Hitman games!

I wish Contracts was on Steam.
nope.

I -think- Contracts was the one I hated with a passion... the one I occasionally got mixed up with Bloodmoney, which I loved with a passion... Which led to some very confusing conversations

Contracts is sort of a retcon of the first two games, and it ties in the most with blood money, which takes place almost directly after contracts.

Silent Assassin and Blood Money are where it's at.

I bought Hitman: Codename 47 and was utterly disillusioned. I remember playing the demo of this game (where you kill some guy in a Chinese restaurant) and being utterly floored by the graphics, the AI, and the gameplay. I played the first mission and though, "What the Hell is this crap?"

[ Edit: not trying to troll - I plan on playing the other two games - I was just surprised at how...not awesome...Codename 47 was. ]

I never played it but Codename 47 was generally received at being a great idea with poor execution. Silent Assassin was excellent and Blood Money was nearly perfect. The only thing that would have made it better is less routine AI and maybe being able to pull off a hit so well that everyone thinks it was an accident (via the newspaper the next day)

Yeah, I've played a few minutes of Hitman 2 and I think that is the demo I played.

Speaking of which, how the Hell do I get into the damn shed after I pick up the parcel? What little exists about it in the form of walkthroughs says to "use the door," but the only option I have is to look through the keyhole, which apparently gets Codename 47 really excited.

I think maybe you hold the use button and select a different action? Similar to Splinter Cell?

No, apparently, when they say "go to the shed" they mean the other shed.

Hitman 2 seems to suffer the same flaws that all sneak-based games seem to - namely, "What constitutes suspicious behavior?"

For example, walking through the same door that would have been used by the postman I just killed makes an assassin. Or, having passed front security, walking around to the side of the house to search for a service entrance (used by the delivery guy) makes me an "assassino."

*sigh*

Yeah, that **** was annoying. Are you running? You pretty much can't run.

It got much better by Blood Money. In Blood Money, it's too easy on the normal difficulty though, you can run around and jump on tables and no one ever cares. Definitely play it on hard.

I only ran to about a hundred feet away from the gate, and it didn't seem to upset the front gate guards. :(

I'll give Blood Money a try.

Try Silent Assassin on an easier difficulty. The missions are still really fun.

I picked up hitman blood money and the recent lara croft game for 7.50 total. not a terrible way to spend money.

It's not the Square Enix deal, but Half Life 2 Episode 2 is only $1.99 right now.

I think it's safe to say all of Half Life 2 is a masterpiece of the form, but Episode 2 really hits the high point. It's just so insanely fun... and the ending scenario will make your heart race guaranteed.
