I have an old Logitech 5.1 speaker set. The subwoofer acts as the receiver, and, lately, its connections to the speakers have been steadily getting worse. I'd like to replace them, sticking to less than $100, and it'd be nice if it was 5.1. I have the old analog output (three 3.5mm jacks) as well as the option of optical audio output.

Any recommendations?

I have these: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Surround-Sound-Speakers-980-000430/dp/B003VAK1FA/ref=pd_cp_e_2

I like them quite a bit.

Wolfy: You have Z-5500's? I haven't had any issues with that myself. :/

Ironically, they're still being sold, and actually way more costly than they used to be.

Haha, yeah. I bought them for around $250 about 5 years ago. Sold them about a month ago for $230 :). I still kind of miss that subwoofer.

I don't believe so. This was a 5.1 system I picked up for $60 in Best Buy more than half a decade ago.

Oh. And it had optical? Wow.

Anyway, carry on. Haha.

I think I have the same set, it was like $60 on Newegg 6+ years ago. It didn't have optical just three mini jacks and an analog monitor cable connecting the subwoofer to one of the speakers. The Cable is heavier than the one speaker so it's always falling. I used to shake the house with that set and Half Life 2 and it's still kickin :awesomelon:

(Sorry no real thread help)

Not quite. :) I have a soundcard that's capable of optical output. I think I have what Dash_Rendar has.

Anyway, I think I'm going to pick up the Z506 set.
