No way. I don't have time for that crap. I wouldn't cross my t's if I didn't have to.

I normally don't, but I had a chinese professor who used to do it for multi-variable calculus, so I did it on his test so it wouldnt confuse the general tao out of him

I have horrible handwriting, and with my job it's essential to have everything be as distinguished as possible. So I cross my 7's so they don't look like half T's or weird 1's and I cross my Z's so they don't look like backward S's or messed up 2's.
My blawgh.

Neither, but I do tend to cross my zeros.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I don't cross 7s or Zs, though I do write lower case T with a serif out of a habit I formed when I took physics in high school.

I'll cross my zeros if it's necessary for clarity.

I'm one of those guys that's uppercase or nothing for handwriting.

a 0 with a cross is a theta or phi though..

A 0 with a cross means you picked a good font.

I do out of habit from German classes years back, and also since I have terrible handwriting [working right now on improving it actually].

Edit: I'm kind of surprised at the outcome, less than 10% do..

I always thought crossing sevens was an European thing.

That said, if I for some reason have to write something with my hands I cross them but if I see a crossed seven on a computer program or whatever I freak out.

I only cross my zeros & z's because they're often confused with o's & 2's.
? :)
2011-02-20, 5:33 AM #15
I only cross my 7s out of habit.

Also my zs and 2s often look similar and my fs and ts are identical.
nope.

I started crossing my 7s back in 1st grade because I thought it looked fancy. Now it's a habit to write them that way...and I still think it looks fancy. >.>

If I ever think there's risk of ambiguity of 1 versus 7, I will cross the 7; however, I have never crossed a Z.

Since I've been dealing with complex numbers, I've been crossing my z's... And since I've been dealing with programming, I've been crossing my 0's
2011-02-20, 9:19 AM #19
I don't cross anything, even if my Ts look like 7s and my Zs look like 2s.

I cross my 7s and majuscule Zs. My minuscule z looks more like a fraktur z though, so I don't cross it. Also, I dot my 0s.

The only reason to cross Zs and 7s is if you have bad handwriting. :p

I always hated crossed z's but I absolutely had to when I did my physics degree, it was impossible to read my notes otherwise. I still do both, but I'm trying to get out of the habit

I cross z if it represents a mathematical object, but I leave it uncrossed if it's part of a word.
