If it is and the price is really 99 USD it will be the best thing since sliced bread.

Yes, it is a real thing, and yes, it does look to be amazing. Too bad it's only capable of one color at a time for the color version.

Wouldn't something like this get scratched and/or have some type of screen damage after a lot of use from the stylus? I understand it is meant to be used on there, but I can't imagine pressing on a screen like that over a long period of time can really be a good thing.

It sounds like a good idea, but the one-color display is a mistake. Shades of gray are necessary for any useful application, at the very least. Color is better. As is a pressure-sensitive pen. In the name of price, they've made it less useful than an ordinary notebook, and it's still 100 times more expensive.

Keep this in mind : First, you can't sketch on it. No matter how light or how hard you press, the pixel is black. They hype this as a 'feature'. I doubt anyone will fall for it. Second, the buttons look like very flat breasts. That would be fine if there were just two of them, but there are three. Not everyone things more boobs are always better. It should at least have an even number. Finally, the copy-writing on their website is unprofessional to say the least. Fine, they aren't a company from an English-speaking nation; if your product is so great you can afford to hire someone who actually speaks the language to write your copy.

I'm not sure how this would come in handy... People who design things usually keep their work on inexpensive paper. I have a cheap notepad with drawings and notes that I always keep with me, and I can't see why it should be replaced. Not trying to come off as a Luddite.

My 4 year old brother has something (toy) that has a striking resemblance to this. Except it uses magnetic filings, and of course you can't save your work.

I disagree. If I want to do minimal shading, I will draw a bunch of lines close together or use more or less dense crosshatching.

The idea is to be minimal and distraction free. Multiple colors would keep me ****ing around with **** longer. This way, I could get a draft of an idea down, save it along with all of the other ones, and upload it to a computer without the hassle of a scanner NOT PICKING UP ALL OF THE LIGHT LINES. That would greatly simplify the workflow of a lot of people.

It's not marketed at everyone, if it was, it would be a tablet with a fully functional copy of gimp or something, which I think is an entirely separate (and awesome) market.

I'm not talking about shading. I'm talking about something as simple as sketching lightly and then drawing over it darker. Just a 4-shade display would be infinitely better than this.

I have a very similar product. It's basically the tablet without the uploading/saving ability. I love it. I use it for recording minor notes and other trivial things, without the difficulty of having to find a pen and paper. I can write on it with my fingernail. It's great.

JM: at which point it'd cost more. A lot more. I'm not interested in it for making fantastic artwork or something, it's for note-taking and basic sketches/diagrams, where even such a limitation is irrelevant.

4 times as much, at the very least.

I'll be honest, the pictures and "philosophy" section make me pretty sure this is just a "dihydrogen monoxide" style joke, where they're selling a pencil and piece of paper. Maybe that's because it's such a baffling product, and maybe it's because the written portions of the website read like someone took random "sounds deep, means nothing" phrases and just strung them together. Here's a sample:

The Internet, social networks, connecting everywhere are just beginning, part of the contemporary future. We don`t want to be overwhelmed with technology. The biggest simplicity is enough to express the basics, to explain the idea.

That's what I'm talking about.

-TL/DR: I already have paper, thanks.

I played with one of these at a mall a few months ago. I thought it would be really cool to get, but I have a sketchbook with me often enough that I wouldn't really ever need it.
My blawgh.
