Most of the people weren't that good looking in the before shots, but in the after shots... wow.

A. I wonder how much of this is the actual drugs, and how much is just correlating factors from being on the streets, out of money, under immense stress, etc.
B. Guy at #10 actually looks better IMO haha.

the scariest were the pictures that were 1yr or less apart...

One of the chief symptoms of drug abuse is apparently your eyes moving apart and failing to point in the same direction.

-Anyways, yeah, that's awful stuff.

Like the original Faces of Meth. Wonder if that campaign is still around.

And I agree with Ford. Some of the scariest transformations are ~6 months apart.

Probably some of that, but it IS heavy meth use

Also a lot of the people in the photos have welts on their face. Is that a bodily effect from the drug use or from physical injury resulting from the use?

"Both meth and heroin are often cut with sugar, McLellan explains. “And you get acne from oily or sweet things, so if you’re injecting the sugar into your veins it’s even more direct,” he adds.

Other impurities can cause lumpy cysts on the face and other areas of the body, such as the armpits and groin, McLellan says.

The gaunt look on many of the addicts can be the result of poor nutrition and lack of sleep, says Dr. Larissa Mooney, an addiction psychiatrist and an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles.

As for the facial sores: Sometimes meth users will hallucinate and get the sensation that there are bugs crawling under their skin, Mooney says. Trying to get relief, they’ll sometimes pick at their skin until there are open sores."

I know a few people who have been addicted to meth. It can be devastating physically. One of them lost several teeth and had all
Kind of sores from picking at their skin. Nasty stuff.

What I don't get about this, and the original Faces of Meth, is the original mug shot. Apparently they were real winners to begin with if there were mug shots of them before the heavy drug use.
Steal my dreams and sell them back to me.....

Well obviously not. You'd have to be an idiot to get involved in that garbage in the first place.

So based on the quality of those individuals, it's not hard to imagine them getting in trouble with the law more than once (whether it be for drugs or something else).
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Those are pretty compelling if you know you weren't already convinced it was a terrible idea.

I remember growing up they'd have billboards up on the highway like "Meth Destroys Families". Now the billboards are like "If you do meth, you're going to get raped in prison".

I guess they've had to escalate some to get the point across.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

I think we can conclusively conclude from this that drug addiction causes facial hair growth in males.

Agreed. I've seen my fair share of addicts. The cuts & scars on some of the faces in the pictures are a great example of the lifestyle of an addict and it's effects on their appearence. Not the effects of the actual drugs themselves. Although, 'Meth Mouth' would be a great posterchild for the latter. Shot #4, with the obvious loss of his teeth, had probably succumbed to that change.

Again, agreed. Probably due to the following...

That's why you don't use needles.

The vast majority of meth addicts do not look like that.

Never said they did. These are some of the less flattering examples, true... but still not the greatest of ideas
