There was a young gal at one of the high schools in my area that they always had to be careful with because she had a heart defect. She was probably the best one on the team, I'm not sure how much she got to play, if ever again, after she found out.

Heart attacks are probably the most common cause of random, sudden athlete deaths. A lot of times they have issues like enlarged hearts that they're just not aware of.

We had a basketball player a couple years back who had a heart attack due to an enlarged heart during practice before the SEC tournament. They quickly defib'ed him and he ended up being fine, but he never played basketball again after that.

the irony is that this will probably also lead to a heart attack... or some kind of cardiac failure. :v:

also (related to the topic), a friend of a friend is currently in a coma. Had a hemorrage while in the bathroom at some bar or something. His friends didn't take him to the hospital initially because they were afraid he OD'd on something. ****ed up ****, man.
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Their initial reaction was to risk him dying because of possible drug charges?
