Great read on the games/art debate

Probably the best article I've read on the subject, and it's written by a Lucasarts employee to boot. Very insightful and informative... thought you guys might enjoy it.

Why is everything written as detached one-sentence lines...

Wow... that was one of the worst troll articles I've ever had the misfortune of reading. Not only did the man make several straw man arguments, which were clearly off topic, but he also changed his point of view a couple times in the article.

I really would love to go on and tear most of his statements and 'evidence' apart, however, I have more difficult and important things to do right now. Maybe later on today when I've done all my errands and am slightly bored I might come back to this thread. For now, though, I just want to state my disappointment.

Whelly... I'm not sure if you agree or disagree with anything that man wrote, but please don't take my lack of enjoyment, nor my outspoken view point as to his means of debate, as an insult. I'm not about to start a flame war. No one wants that.

Except the trolls.

I would say this whole article isn't remotely even coherent. It's painful to read. So I stopped reading

Someone just sum up what this ex-LucasArts employee is trying to say.

It's a lecture, not an essay. ECHOMAN.

Yeah I realized that after few minutes. But still my point on coherence still stands.

I actually don't agree with all of it, but it was refreshing to read something that was well thought out instead of "OMG EBERT, have u played bioshock!!1?" I liked his insights on kitsch and sublime art the most... I don't really consider this lecture the start of an argument but more of a different way of looking at things.
