Find Me A Charity

I have to do a speech (for school) on a charity of my choice. Which one should I choose? I have no clue. Any suggestions?

(PS- Something to do with time travel would be ideal. I did searched very briefly on google, but turned up with nothing. I understand that may be a bit far fetched, yet I want something at least mildly interesting. Space sci-fi esk charity's would kick ass.)

What about non-profits? EFF?

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Families without insurance never see a bill.
Families with insurance never see a deductible.

Designed and constructed pro bono by black American "architect of the stars" Paul Williams, at the request of entertainer Danny Thomas, in 1962.

Thomas, before his fame, supposedly tossed his last quarter into a collection plate, then made a vow in chapel that if he ever hit it big, he'd use the money to do something massively good. Figured it was a lost cause.

He... hit it big. Really fekkin' big. Modern equivalent of $1 WhoaThat'sALotta'Moneyillion.
Asked the pastor of his former church, I haz a moneez, now whut I do wif it?
Pastor-guy tells him to make a hospital that researches disease and cancers in children, since (at the time) nobody else is doing that, and leukemia is rampant.

Coupla' years later -----> free research hospital, dedicated to the patron saint of lost causes. Whoop!

Seriously, I think this is a fantastic organization. I know several dozen people in person whose lives were saved specifically by this hospital.

I second EFF.

Use it as an opportunity to discuss net neutrality, as this is going to be one of the biggest issues of our generation. Its appalling how many kids have no idea what this even means.

Thanks much for the suggestions. It was between the EFF or Child's Play, and I chose EFF. Its pretty interesting stuff. I had never heard of either and was delighted to find such a cool charity in addition to the one im already doing. I passed on child's play to another kid in my class that was gunna do the Ronald McDonald bull ****.

Thanks again to everyone who suggested. I truly appreciate it. Usually, I am the type of person to be hell bent on finding my own original idea for something, rather than ask. IN this case however, i was at a loss. Contrary to popular belief, I do not know all the cool charity's. So thanks massassi for being so knowledgeable.
