Not quite as thrilling as Source Code from last week, but this movie is still quite enjoyable. Hanna is like a cross between a Disney animated princess film, Kick-Ass (Big Daddy and Hitgirl), and Bourne. Saoirse Ronan does a terrific job as the titular protagonist. She does a much better job than Emily Browning in Sucker Punch when it comes to demonstrating her toughness and her innocent side. Then again, Saoirse has a better script and more character development to work with. She did rather well in her fight scenes as well; I read in an interview that she trained in Wing Chun for this film.
I do have some issues with the film. The second act kind of felt like it dragged on a bit. Editing is a bit incoherent at times especially towards the end when there are gunshots fired at Hanna, but you don't see the shooter aiming when there is a cut to the shooter. Shaky cam is employed for Hanna's fight scenes and the camera is zoomed up a bit close. Thankfully for Eric Bana's fight scenes, you don't have any of that. I suppose the shaky cam is utilized to make Hanna's fights seem more feral like as oppose to Bana's fighting feeling more structured.
SPOILERS
The ending seem to leave a lot of open questions for a sequel. With her father dead, what will become of Hanna? Will Hanna run into other "super soldier children" like her in the future? The fact that we don't see Marissa shot (though heavily implied) permits her possible returning for a sequel.
