It really is a toss up for me...
The first one was great. As always, the original is the original and at the time had no equal. Although, the end, or close to the end anyway, of Ex Ad gets kind of corny... Bit of a let down when you don't want it.
The second did a great job of trying to take things up a notch. With franchises, it's usually the end of a series when they go to space or travel through time. I mean, how do you top space & time? It really is taking it to the very limits of what we know. And Bill & Ted started with time travel. Yet, they did it. They actually did make a great sequal to what would have been a stand alone movie. I'm also a bit partial to humorous personifications of Death (Discworld anyone?). However, the 'alien' in Bo Jo is the corny let down in the second. Never liked it. It just reminded me of some kind of bad Jim Henson muppet.
