should I buy Minecraft?

or is the free version sufficient for the occasional mindless entertainment session?
woot!

The free version isn't even remotely like the full version. I didn't enjoy the free version at all, but the full game absolutely. The free version is little more than a block building game.

It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

Minecraft wasn't really a spectacularly original thing.

It's Lego blocks translated to digital scales and given non-plastic material properties. Lotsa' room for creativity... but in and of itself not a very creative concept.
Even so, I wouldn't belittle the effort put into actually creating it, regardless of the idea's originality or lack thereof.

Thanks to this thread, I wasted an our on Ace of Spades. It's ok, but as I'm not that good at 3rd person shooters I got killed quite alot and got frustrated. It's fun tunnelling under an enemy's base though, stealing the 'flag', and then running for your life.

Yes. You'll certainly get at least 15 bucks worth of fun out of it.

Minecraft is a ripoff of Infiniminer.

And no, I don't think you should buy it. Minecraft was okay a while ago, before the developer lost interest, but I can't honestly recommend buying the game now.

If you like the gameplay: get Infiniminer, Manic Digger, Ace of Spades, and support projects that aren't 100% about a dude selling a product he has no faith in to people he borderline hates.
