Hello Massassi!
So I'm tinkering around with a new idea which will be called The Red Thread, which I'm deciding between making it a new forum game or a new interactive story. The concept behind it will be fairly similar to Cube and The Long Walk. The premise: characters/players are thrown into a strange, enigmatic corridor-prison ("the red thread") where their only bleak hope is to traverse down it in hopes of finding a way out. If it becomes a story, the premise will likely hinge more on the psychological conflicts to arise, and if it becomes a game, the premise will likely hinge more on some experience of stamina. Either way, I'm likely to reward participants with artwork of the character they write or play. Of course, there's no reason having it as a game can't unofficially include narrative flair or having it as a story can't be guided with clear, short term goals more familiar in a game.
As it is, I don't know which one, story or game, would be better for this concept. I'm turning to you, Massassi, to help me decide which sounds more enjoyable for you. Please vote on the poll and post your reasons why in this thread. Thank you!
(I voted "other" because I'm looking for help in deciding.)

As for writing an old school text adventure, surprisingly, I have not. If I did, though, I feel I would need to think of 1) a unique game mechanic to add and 2) a story that takes the most advantage of that type of gameplay style. The first would likely require me to know more programming (read: just about any) than I'd be able to handle, and the second would be a tricky thing to figure out. It's not to say it's out of the question -- far from it -- but it's not likely something I'll actively pursue anytime soon.
