Building computer. I was just going to do initial boot up with only the SSD hooked up and install windows like I would any other system. Then plug in the 1TB after.

You don't need to put off plugging in the HDD. Just plug it in and choose the SSD to format and install the OS on. Then you can format the HDD post-install using Control Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management.

Edit: This was assuming Windows 7. Not sure what you plan on using.

Two really small things:
-I would check for newer firmware for your SSD just because it's nice to update without any of your data at risk.
-I would make sure you have the SATA controller set to AHCI in BIOS before installing Windows. If you forgot there is a registry fix.
