The most genius thing about that scene is how they saved money by re-using the finale special effect shot of the ship exploding..from the PREVIOUS MOVIE

Yeah, other than Kirk's lame death, which is actually the source of the trope known as "dropping a bridge on someone" that one wasn't bad. It had Malcom Mcdowell for christ's sake.

Well I don't blame them. You have any idea how much a ship of that size costs, just to blow it up?

Generations: 35$ Mil Budget
Undiscovered Country: 27$ Mil Budget

Somewhere in that 8$ Million dollars there should've been a new model and a new special effect.

Is it really a trope if it's just in one movie

The second is always the best. It works for video games, too.

The first is an experiment. Will this game be good?

If so, they make a second. The second takes the first and refines the gameplay. It doesn't change very much, it just gets better.

In the third, one of two things happen. They either try to 'mix it up', or they become completely formulated and soulless.

Ok, I have to explain this... The trope is called "dropped a bridge on him"

The choreography in EP1 was good, 2 and 3 not so much

You don't know how tropes work do you? =p

What I'm getting at I SUPPOSE deadman is that (after reading the article), "Dropped a Bridge on him" is one of the most awkwardly, poorly defined tropes I've happened to read on TV Tropes.

so whatever! man

I have just recently rewatched the prequals, and I found myself really enjoying The Phantom Menace, significantly more than Attack of the Clones. I'm thinking that because there is SO MUCH HATE for The Phantom Menace online, we build it up in our heads to a degree far beyond what it actually deserves. Yes, Jar Jar was annoying, and Jake Lloyd was a poor actor, but overall its a pretty fun movie.

Actually, I have to agree with this. It was a great romp, and you had to admire Sidious/Palpatine's Xanatos Gambit. And the Darth Maul duel ROCKED.

Do I have to admire it if I don't even know what it is?

Yeah. Phantom Menace is far less worse than Attack of the Clones. My opinion is that Hipster Fanboys are the only ones that value AotC more than TPM.

TPM is probably the best prequel, who would've thought we would be saying that after we saw it in theaters though!

No, the movie is just turning 12 years old and people are more willing to accept it just because its not so new anymore.

A Xanatos Gambit, in short is a plan in which all possible outcomes are advantageous for you. By having the Trade Federation invade Naboo, he created a situation where he was elected Chancellor. It didn't matter whether or not the Federation successfully held Naboo; he still got what he wanted.

For a more in-depth definition, look it up at tvtropes.org - my stupid comp is not letting me c&p the link, sorry.
