Bahamas were too hot. Also the boat seemed likely to land me in davy jones locker. So I quit. I got home one week ago. I have an interview Wednesday to work at the Center for Wooden Boats in downtown Seattle. Which would be cool. So vibes me pls.


Also, why are there so few posts here now? work harder people

The litter and garbage.

I left cause the Captain who hired me was only there a few weeks while I was. That was known ahead of time. Replacement Captain was incompetent, and I didn't feel like he operated the vessel safely. So I skedaddled.

I always imagined the Bahamas as an overpriced tourist hive, but I never been there.

What was it like culture-wise?

The main island, New Providence, is taken up by the city Nassau. The vast majority of the population lives here. Theres quite a bit of poverty. Culture is fairly typical tropical island style. Laid back, lots of drinking. Don't expect restaurants or other services to move quickly. Some areas of extreme wealth, including the lost city of Atlantis.

Smaller islands much less densely populated, much more laid back, much more fun.

Yes, I know about the resort. I heard about it when I was younger and have always wanted to go. But someone actually calling it "The Lost City of Atlantis" is amusing to me. It's Atlantis Resort & Casino or Atlantis Paradise Island. Not the actual legend. I find it amusing.

There used to be a strip club in a neighboring suburb that was called Atlantis as well. That was even more amusing when it got brought up.
