A friend told me this little gem was waiting at the liquor store, so I had to buy it before someone else did.

My last beer purchase was last weekend. I have been dealing with stomach problems for the past 2 months, which may be related to gluten. I found Redbridge, a gluten-free beer, when I visited my brother. Wasn't that great, but at least I could drink a beer.

There are actually better whiskeys being made in Tennessee now than Jack Daniel's (which I assume you're talking about) in my opinion, though they don't really fit the definition of "Tennessee Whiskey." Corsair has a really good whiskey, which was being made in Bowling Green, but I think they're making it in Nashville now. I'm really not a big fan of Jack.

I'm actually not talking about Jack Daniel's. I'm talking about something even cheaper.

I don't have the money to worry about drinking good booze anymore.

Evan Williams?

That **** isn't bad as far ass cheap whiskey goes, and the greenlabel is dirt cheep.

Cut down on the drinking. Unless you've made a good life decision and decided not to become an officer.

Ten High!

And I'm done with the notion of wanting to be an officer.

Oh good. I hope you will soon rule out the possibility of going into the military altogether.

I haven't ruled it out altogether, but I'm trying to go about it in an intelligent way. I'm not so sure about the Marine Corps, since it's damned near impossible to get promoted. I actually want something that can feasibly become a career.

Well, it is easy to get promoted if you

A:Are lucky
B:Suck dick

Of course all of those require being in a good MOS field and being proficient.

Consider two enlistments in the Army and then seriously consider active national guard. Maybe counter intelligence or ideally some sort of remote sensing application, maybe even go to the air force for that.

Or be some dumb ass hooligan who just runs and shoots things while grunting into a radio, it's worked for lots of people.

Hey maybe it's for me after all.

No really, I wanted to be an 03 and try to make a career out of it. After I realized that's pretty much impossible, I started to think why not join another branch where my intellect could be applied better. Since, according to the asvab, I'm gifted or whatever. I don't really know what to do. I don't want to be some garbage ass POG, but I also don't want to be stuck at E-3 for the next 12 years and then get kicked out.

Though, it appears you have a similar level of not only intelligence (slightly above average?) but maturity as well (marginally above some others) so you might not be cut out for that on account of the second part. I know I'm not.

EDIT:A career in the Marine Corps will necessitate moving through a number of different duty assignments such as Recruiter, Drill Instructor, Combat Instructor, and probably deployments as an 03POG. Like you guys always needle Wookie for, in the Marine Corps, most of your time as anyone above a Corporal is spent doing paperwork. If you want to make a career out of the military, get a job you can stand doing for 20 years even if you don't get promoted. You're going to get ****ed and people who ***** (griping is different, it's a subtle art) are just as clueless as when they first got in, somehow.

As far as the military is concerned, my intelligence is pretty high (93 asvab) and according to me, my maturity is high, since I didn't lose my cool one time during boot. And I only got quarterdecked a total of 6 times. Really, from what I understand, based on how I am, I would probably be a Lance by now if I had stayed with my original platoon and not gotten sick. After that it just went downhill.

I got a 90. I honestly think that the range from 1-99 does not represent the full spectrum of human intelligence even discarding all those crazy outliers. You're smarter than most of the military, no doubt though, and probably smart enough for SF (this coming from a non Special Forces soldier, I only know enough to know I'm not going to waste their time pursuing it) but it's the mindset that is the deal breaker.

I'm just saying man, the SF (as opposed to SOF) world is far, far, far different from a big Army or Corps point of view. It takes a kind of maturity that I'm not sure is me, and seeing our similarities may not be you. I could be wrong. But if you want a fulfilling job that involves killing bad men...

Just throwing out a couple of options and commenting on the one that usually generates the biggest **** YEAH GREEN BERETS reaction.

To get back on topic...

I can't imagine ever buying a bottle of Utopias on my own. I'd like to try it someday, but it's one of those bottles I'd rather buy with a group and split both the cost and the beer. I passed up Brewdog Sink the Bismarck! and Tactical Nuclear Penguin when they were available in town for pretty much the same reason.

Anyway, my three latest beer purchases, starting with the most recent:
- 12pk Full Sail Session
- 6pk Victory Prima Pils, 6pk Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, 6pk Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, 6pk Sierra Nevada Torpedo
- One bottle Westvleteren 12, one Westvleteren goblet glass (for immediate post-finals drink)

Cost didn't really bother me, especially since I got it at normal retail price (which yes, is still pricey, but not as high as what people resell it for). The store actually had two of them. My friend actually got one as well at lunch time yesterday and called me about it while I was at work, cause he was shocked that there were two just sitting there on the counter and no one had bought them up yet. I waited around until I got off work, expecting the last one to be gone, but it wasn't. We're going to throw a little shindig at some point and let some of our friends come over and share them.

Yeah, but the new formula of Four Loko is lame. It's nowhere near as Loko (aka not nearly as deadly anymore)!!!!!!

We had the original formula around here in Madison for a while since Four Loko is made just outside the city. Lot of stores had so much surplus stock from college football in the fall.

I had some Stella at the bar/restaurant I went to this weekend. Right now it's my new favorite adult beverage.

Not my most recent purchase, but the one that's most recently entered my apartment:

That's right. Westvleteren 12. Glass included. For immediate post-finals consumption.

Not really a recent purchase, but I haven't been drinking much lately.
