testing the alt text from todays xkcd, i did in fact find it to be true!

the Chewbacca Defense is 12 clicks away from the article on philosophy.

post your own improbable articles that link eventually to philosophy and how many clicks it took.

Rules: Click on the first link of every article that isn't in parentheses or italics until you you get to Philosophy.

Penis took 11 or 12, depending on how you look at it.

Conversely it took a lot more starting from Vagina.

I was skeptical about this at first until I tried it earlier today. Everything I tried took me to "modern philosophy" and then "philosophy" within 30 clicks.

I guarantee The Matrix only takes one...

Do links inside notice boxes count? Because the chewbacca defense took me to an infinite loop between transmission and telecomunnications.

Or maybe you meant to also exclude text in quotes?
2011-05-26, 5:49 AM #9
I think it's supposed to be the actual text within the article. Use some sense.

It's the first link in the article itself that is not within parenthesis or in italics.

I just watched L.A. Confidential again so I tried that.

Eighteen clicks. I've had a few beers so my mind went ****ing kaboom. Best thing ever.

Chewbacca defense -> Chef Aid -> Comedy Central -> cable television -> television -> telecommunication -> transmission -> telecommunication -> transmission -> etc.

It does not work.

Wet t-shirt contest -> Exhibitionism -> Psychosocial -> Psychology -> Science -> Knowledge -> Facts -> Reality -> Being -> English -> West Germanic Languages -> Germanic Languages -> Indo-European Languages -> Language Family -> Language -> Human -> Extant Taxon -> Biology -> Natural Science -> Science -> Knowledge -> Facts -> Reality... oh.

The actual path leads to an infinite loop through mathematics and quantity and magnitude. Which is also not philosophy.

It's like the mandelbrot set. Wet t-shirt contest escapes to infinity.
I'm just a little boy.

Someone edited the page for 'magnitude' so it formed a loop instead of linking to 'property' first.

Youre right. When i originally did it i must have missed The link back to telecommunication, proably because it was purple and moved on to the next link. My bad.

I am seeing knowledge>fact>information>sequence>mathematics>quantity>property>modern philosophy>philosophy.

What rules are you playing by?
