Massassi help me install a hard drive

I have a slightly older machine running XP with only two SATA ports on the motherboard. I wanted to install a 3rd hard drive so I got a VT-6421 "2 port SATA + 1 port ATA133" PCI card.

I installed all the hardware and the BIOS seems to see the "Add On Card" but nothing is reognizing the SATA hard drive that's plugged into it. Not in Windows Explorer, and not in Disk Management where I would normally go to format the drive. I installed all the drivers that came with the card and also tried some drivers from the mfg web site (which seemed to be the same).

Any experience with these?

No recent experience but years ago most of these type add-in controllers had there own 'bios' which had to be configured. Usually they hooked in just before or after the motherboard bios. Anything like that?

What do you mean by hooked in?

Sorry, I used the term as in 'software hook', not something you physically connect. I'm guessing it doesn't or you would see something like 'Press Alt-F to configure', ect.

Have you tried googling that specific hard drive?
You can't judge a book by it's file size
