It's been a long time. But I've been at it hording computer parts and I need to clear some space.

I have three computers that are ancient by my standards, but could possibly serve someone else. I would like to give them away here to members of the Massassi community that could put them to good use.

All three are very similar. They are:

HP-Compaq DX2300 Microtowers
E2160 Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz 1mb L2 cache, 775 socket
2gb DDR2 ram
80gb 3.5" SATA ( C: )
500gb 5400rpm 2.5" SATA ( D: ).
DVD-RW SATA ( E: )
Vista X64 Business

The three differ ever so slightly with PSU/Videocard match ups:

Asus 460W / 8600gts (Fastest)
Rocketfish 500W / 7900gs (Case is a little beatup)
Rocketfish 500W / 7800gt (Slowest)

Sadly these are HP OEM motherboards- I was unable to overclock the CPU via BIOS or software.

If these old systems are an upgrade for anyone here that meets the two requirements below, your at the top of the list. Be honest If there is any left after helping the truly needy, I'll do the standard - make a list of names and run it thru the Randomizer. I'll probably let this thread fill up until Tue 6/21.

These computers are completely free, I will even pay for shipping. I do have a few restrictions:

1) You must have an 'established' Massassi forum account. If you signed up immediately after seeing this post or have a very low post count, I probably will disqualify you.

2) You must live within the Continental United States. (Shipping outside of US will cost me too much, Sorry.)

I am only giving away the actual computer tower (The case, and internal components). You will need your own Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, and Speakers. These computers contain used/spare components, so no guarantees or warranties. Some of my previous giveaways, resulted in a DOA computers. No Install Media Included, but all 3 PC's have Vista Business COA stickers attached to case.

My brother's laptop screen just died, and he has absolutely no means of paying for a new one. He would be HUGELY happy to have it. I wouldn't ask for one at any other time, but he desperately could use it. We don't live together, and he has no computer now.

Edit: just for irony, his laptop was slower than DrkJedi82's computer posted below, as well.

I tried to upgrade a computer, but something went catastrophically wrong and now it won't boot up. I'm probably gonna rip out the hard drive and plug it into my main computer because that's the only good internal part. However, it has a good mouse, keyboard, etc, so I'd be ready to receive.

The screen's backlight is out, and the hinges don't hold the screen up anymore. The battery is completely dead, and my h and u keys only work intermittently.

No, you could buy a cheap dual core for what it would cost me to ship it.

I only have a half functioning 5 year old laptop...been looking for a desktop so I could do some pc gaming, even old gaming, for a while. Any tower would help me start building a better computer.

Also, all posts here over the past few months have been on my phone because my laptop freezes too much.

What? A cheap LGA775 runs upwards of 100 dollars. FFS I even offered to pay the shipping.

If they don't all make it to the needy, I'd drop my hat in the ring. Wouldn't be an upgrade for me, but definitely would be for my parents who are using a frankenstein of old parts put together by me. I don't even remember the stats but it's still using IDE.

I don't have any spare 775 dual cores, and I'm not removing one from a complete system.

But if were you I would wait till NCIX has another huge sale. Even if I had one and shipped just the CPU, Im guessing it would cost me $25. This is why I'm saying- You might as well use the money you offered for shipping, and just go buy one.

I have a 3600+ x2 AMD chip if anyone needs it. My mother was trying to find a computer for a single mom going back to school..I can check with her and see if she is still looking for one.

The last computer I won in the giveaway contest, I gave to my friend, I remember it was an ASUS mobo, I believe 478 socket, maybe a couple gigs of ram, ati 9000 series.. it's really a dog of a rig. He could use another upgrade courtesy of you

I would gladly withdraw my name from the running if it meant those who really desperately a computer could get one. I've got a functional computer. Sure, it may not be the best computer in the world, but it can run the games I want it to run, and that's really all that matters in the long run, right?

-That said, if there's any spare laptops floating around, my mom really wants to get back into the computer world and I think a small, simple windows lappy with a decent hard drive and good connectivity would be hugely appreciated.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I built my current desktop over 7 years ago, and it sounds like a mo-ped when I start it.

Well, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, but I really can't since I recently got a deal on a netbook. It can't even play Oblivion (5 year old game), but it works fine and can play a bunch of older games, so I can't complain. Good luck to those who desperately need one!

I've been yearning for a desktop lately since my only computer faster than a Pentium 3 is my 2007 Macbook with an exploded battery.
