Very impressive I think. Didn't play FC2, but this looks like something I'd like to try out. :)

Maybe it will not do what FC2 did so wrong. (It was a pretty fun game, but should've been better) I think we've already got a confirmation of no weapon degredation.

FC2 failed in many ways (at delivering a believably-populated world, at creating convincing enemy behavior, at providing narrative coherence, etc.), but delivered on the aesthetic and visceral bits (roaming the African countryside, running and gunning) so well that I hope hope hope they fix all the god damn oversights and strange mistakes from FC2. If they do even slightly, I'll probably be all about it, since I liked the first two games so much.

The voice acting seems better, at least! The crazy villain is a bit of a cliche, but not one of the most overused ones, so that's alright... and he's acted well.

That narrator is really obnoxious.

"On a mysterious island where everyone is... insane"

"This is where Jason realizes he's in trouble!"

Yeah. In the previous games, that's how they had the main character talk, this one seems like it might be a bit different, thank god. When he barely avoids drowning after his encounter with the ICP, and he says "what the ****," I thought that was well done... wasn't too testosterone-heavy, and it's pretty much what you'd say after experiencing that.

Every time someone says ICP I translate that to Insane Clown Posse.

Please no malaria.

Please no weapon degradation.

Please no enemies that instantly know where you are.

And PLEASE no trucks full of NPCs that spawn out nowhere.

These things were what killed FC2 for me.

Also, I hope there is better exploration. FC2 had the capable technology, but the gameplay elements were completely fumbled.

FC2 is unplayable for me. I am going to see if there are some mods that improve the very specific things Echoman mentioned. The part where firing a gun anywhere makes all enemies know where you are is so ass-backwards from how I play farcry it's stupid. I also wish the enemies would die when I shot them with a an automatic rifle and they're wearing a t-shirt.

Maybe "killed" would be too strong of a word. It's like FC2 shows you that there is this FUN, but then puts something in the way of that FUN. Like if you want to cruise around the great environment, the game then throws in a truckload of bad guys to harass you over and over. Why? I hope FC3 realizes this.

Am I the only one that appreciated the weapon degradation and other minor hobbles? Knowing your rattly AK could fall to pieces at the worst possible moment added to the tension. It was the bits where you find yourself ducking behind an engine block to tend to your wounds all while the mercs try to outflank you or inadvertently starting a bush fire from the back blast on a rocket launcher and ruining your carefully planned assault that made it exciting.

That said, if this game returns to shooting monstrous fast-moving bullet sponges as in FC1 then weapon degradation would suck.

I think I would've liked the bandaging more if the controls were better, but yeah the weapon degrading (with some tweaks and balance) was actually kind of fun in that I had to run across a road to pick up a fallen enemy's weapon, but then if you do use picked-up weapons, your gun is breaking every 2 seconds and it just becomes a chore of trekking to a safe house for a stocked weapon, and then running back to the fire-fight (while encountering respawned enemies all the way in between.) It just feels like the developers had all of these ideas, executed them, and then didn't playtest anything beyond confirming that the systems worked.

I guess this game is set to be a far cry from its predecessor.
