Invented Spellings

I will from now on be spelling the world aeffect as 'aeffect' so that idiots will stop incorrectly correcting my usage.

Additionally, I will be spelling everything I can the limey way next semester to enrage my instructors.

Do any of you fine critters have invented spellings that you use regularly even in (relatively) formal contexts?

Not really an invented spelling so much as a mushed word. See, there are things out there that are too likely to be just POSSIBLE but not likely enough to be PROBABLE, so I find a good in-between is PROSSIBLE.

This is a real word, but I enjoy the irony created by using the word 'abstruse'.

Also, any excuse to use the word 'ninjaly'.

"Grawesome" = great + awesome

Another mashed-up word.

"Itchimooshi" - a fun word made up by an old coach.

"Vyrdenschtorgen" - a word I made up to mean "weird". Sort of ironic, eh?

"Indeedy-ishly" - dunno why I say this.

TTFN - Ta-ta for now. Anyone ELSE care to admit that they know where this is from? :P

General knowledge?

I occasionally use "Ginormagantuan".

If you say "guesstimate" like it's an actual word I want to punch you in the throat.
nope.

I would guesstimate that "ginormagantuan" is a mashup of ginormous and gargantuan. :D

And no, not general knowledge. It comes from a specific place. Well, maybe in UK it's used more, but here I always have to explain what it means and where it comes from.

And ginormous is a portmanteau of giant and enormous.
nope.

Portmanteau! That's the word I was looking for. Thank you, sir.

So, ginormagantuan is a meta-portmanteau!

Also, I'm surprised you didn't punch me in the throat.

I've got a mental note of it.
nope.

I'm a confused American who thought everyone knew what TTFN meant.

Yes it seemed more like a depressed acid trip at times, as opposed to something for kids.

Yet who doesn't love ALL the characters?

Except for the real boy. **** that kid. :colbert:

Portmanteauliteration:

what happens when a semi-fluent speaker of two languages attempts to translate something from one language to the other, but succeeds only in transliterating it in a manner confusing to listeners of one or both languages, typically by mashing together two unrelated words into a compound word that has no resemblance to correct grammar in either language

Example: Octopi, coup de grace (when pronounced grah instead of grahss)
