Abe Lincoln was the U.S. President under whose term American slavery was abolished.

The Emancipation Proclamation did not free all slaves in the United States. Rather, it declared free only those slaves living in states not under Union control.

This is why I avoided using the Emancipation Proclamation in my statement. That didn't actually free any slaves, but it was under his term that US slavery was abolished.
