My cousin showed me an article about external video cards, I'm not big into computers and had never heard of these. But all I have is a ****ty laptop and I would love to play some of the newer games like Skyrim.

Yes, Tubby, which is they they're all ExpressCard, some other proprietary high-bandwidth dock connector, or (in the future) Thunderbolt.

Any solution that would give you a reasonable framerate would cost as much as a decent gaming PC.
