I don't know how much of this is sarcasm or not, but I'll bite.
I am a huge fan of movies of all sorts. I more or less refuse to hate any movie. There is something you can take away positively from every movie ever made. There will be at least one good performance, a scene that really works, an awesome line, or even just a cool shot. There are plenty of movies I like (some that I even own) based on single shots, edits, characters, etc... that are on screen for only a minute or two. Sure, a lot of those films are objectively bad, but there are great things to find in every movie ever made. I have never seen a movie that didn't have at least one part that I liked. And yes, I'm saying that I will sit through a movie that I otherwise don't really like at all, just for a single 2 minute scene, or a line or two.
Years ago, I loved to nit pick movies apart until I hated them. Hell, I even remember when Timewolf and I hated each other because I had convinced myself that the Lord of the Rings movies were terrible. I used to dump on the Star Wars prequels and all other sorts of roundly hated movies all the time, but I guess I'm just to the point in my life where there are so many things in the world that I despise, I can't allow myself to bring that negativity into one of the few things I truly enjoy. So I don't dump on movies anymore, and it annoys me when people who claim to be lovers of film do. Take it from Quentin Tarantino, who once said "never, under any circumstances, hate a movie" for the same reasons I've just gone over.
And no, I do not have any illusions about working in the film industry. I studied film in college, but I never even attempted to get into the industry, because working on my own projects and having to go through bit by bit and analyze the hell out of everything I was doing caused me to do the same thing when I watched movies, which is what turned me into the kind of guy who would have applauded Plinkett for what he does. I also realize that taking something you love to do, and turning it into work is one of the easiest ways to learn that you hate doing that thing. Working on my own projects and analyzing the hell out of movies caused me to hate them, and I never had any positive views toward a movie unless it embraced the same kind of cynical ideas I had toward the world.
I don't want to try to break into the film industry for the same reason I don't go enroll at Notre Dame and try out for the football team. I love movies, and I love football, but I can't ever see myself doing either of those things for a living.
