It might be only to you :) I thought it was a bit well known (among a community like this) that lots of Star Wars tech (and even battle cinematography) was based on WW2 footage.

I know about the firearms, but I've never seen the Millennium Falcon cockpit in anything but the Millennium Falcon. :)

Pretty much this. I kind of knew they were based on real designs, but I'd never seen any of them. That's awesome. I do know the two sentry cockpits are also based on something too.

Koobie, I don't know if you're American or not, but I know JediKirby is.

I have no idea how you can graduate from high school in America and never learn about, or even see a photo, of the Enola Gay:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enola_Gay

It's kind of a big deal in American history.

Why is it hard to believe that you could graduate from high school without having been taught the name of the plane? Everyone knows about the bombings, the fact that the plane was the Enola Gay is just color. I'm sure most people have heard of "Little Boy" but I wouldn't be surprised if not.

My point is, as soon as I saw the plane I thought "oh that cockpit glass reminds me of the Millennium Falcon"

I'm not American, but I like history all the same. However, I never attached any significance to the name of the bomber (or the bomber itself) that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, neither did I know that you guys had to learn it in order to graduate school. Thanks for the info! :awesome:

haha, I didn't have to learn it to graduate, I just remember them talking about it every year on VJ Day.

Knowing the name of the Enola Gay and knowing what the cockpit looks like are two completely different things. Not counting my ROTC classes, there really wasn't much said about her.

My brain keeps telling me the title says: "Millennium Falcon Interior: 0, Me: 264"

I hadn't at all heard of the Me 264 before. I'd mostly heard of the Fw Condor as the Luftwaffe 4-engined heavy bomber in some kind of run-off held late in the war, but I could have sworn the oppposing entry was a Heinkel. It's a shame Firefox hasn't visited for a while, he was helping with a B-29 restoration a few years back (2004ish). Also, for anyone who hasn't visited over the past 15 years, I'd recommend having a look at http://www.luft46.com/ if ever you have some time to spare. -edit, meant to mention, there's currently an Fw200 Condor and a Ju-88G undergoing restoration at the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin.

I'd only ever seen the exterior of the plane.

Oh I know all about the Enola Gay, but as mentioned, that doesn't mean I've seen the cockpit up close before.
