So one of my bandmates brought some ghost pepper powder to practice and is trying to get everyone to try it... :D

I need more info here.

Please elaborate on your pepper intentions

edit: oh it's supposed to really, really hot. Well, call kyle90, he can offer some suggestions.

Apparently out bass player ate 3 grains of it earlier and got heartburn. This is admittedly a really dumb endeavor and purely for entertainment value.
I'll probably try a bit at the end of practice, our guitar player brought a video camera, so if it's entertaining enough I'll post video.

Not sure how hot the powder would be.

I ate a ghost pepper sauce order of wings and vomited half hour later. Second time I managed to fully digest them. it hurt coming out that way really bad.

Put about 20 uL of 1 million SHU hot sauce on my tongue once. Tongue was burning for about 15 minutes. Really flushes the sinuses.

About a year ago I went to Jake Melnick's in Chicago, known for having the world's hottest ghost pepper wings. I was able to eat exactly one of them, and it took me over an hour, four beers, and an order of regular hot wings to get through. A local place has some less intense ghost wings, and I can manage an order of those, with not insignificant pain.

When I start brewing beer again, one of my first batches will be a ghost pepper IPA. Thinking I'll use one full pepper for a five-gallon batch.

I would not dream of eating a ghost pepper straight up.

Ok reporting back!
Tried a tiny bit, and it's hot! Strangely my lips and most of my mouth started going numb before there was really any "pain" tried to swollow and I ended up choking/coughing for about 7-8 minutes straight. (<<<heyoooo)

All in all not a terrible experience, but I did only eat a very little bit of it.

Yeah it's probably so hot that it overloads the nerves or something (I'm not a biology major). Thus, it ends up feeling less hot than other peppers, despite the other side effects. It can definitely make you puke though, even with an iron stomach.

I've got some Blair's Ultra Death Sauce. It rates at 1.1m on the scoville scale. It's stupid ****ing hot. I don't use it very often.

If you want something really hot, try Blair's 16 Million Reserve. It's pure crystallized capsaicin. Just pure extracted chili pepper hotness. They say you'll just end up with severe chemical burns if you eat it straight, but it only comes in like a 2oz bottle anyway, and the last I saw it was selling for about $500. It's obviously meant to be diluted.

The numbness is your nerve endings getting burnt off.

I love me some spicy food, but I really have zero desire to try things that are stupid hot like this. Worst I've done is chewed up a whole dried red chili pepper (not sure the exact type) and paid for it with heartburn for quite a while, and that was when I was younger and dumber.

I went to Quaker Steak and Lube and did the Triple Atomic Wings Challenge the day before I shipped to boot camp. That was really ****ing stupid. For multiple reasons.
