JOB APPLICATION TO REMEDY ENTERTAINMENT, ESPOO, FINLAND: [/B]

Dear Remedy HR,

I'd like to apply for a Writer position in Espoo, Finland. I've been
published in Abyss & Apex Magazine and had been freelancing as a
copywriter since 2009. I've written hundreds of short stories, poems,
articles, and everything in between.

Currently I'm employed in Budapest, Hungary as a contractor for Oracle
HSGBU (that's Oracle's division dealing with health products) which
taught me to work with various teams while fixing 3 things when 4 need
fixing and the timelines are on fire through no fault of our own.

I'm attaching a sample of my writing, a video game themed interactive
story that I've sold to a games blog, as well as an original short
story of 5k words called "Today Before Tomorrow." I'm also attaching
two copies of my CV, one listing all my copywriting jobs and one my
detailing my corporate career.

On a more personal note, there is simply nothing that I'd like to do
more than to write for a living, especially if video games are
involved. As any craftsman knows, the only way to get better is with
practice, and what better way is there to do that than to get paid to
do what you love doing most?

And, hey, my first name's Max, so that's got to count for something, right?

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,
Max

Did you actually put this...?

But you have to remember that the job of the HR worker is to make society worse.

Awesome, thanks! :D Jah, ECHOMAN, it's a word by word copy. Will update the thread if I ever hear anything back. Deadline for the application's Feb 05, so if they choose to write back, I'm guessing it'd be 'till end of this month... Crytek* Hungary only took 19 days to reject my QA Team Member application with a form reply, so hey. :)

*Here's a company who'd do well to hire a few good writers TBFH.

It's a good bull**** detector for Koobie's side. Would you really want to work at a place that was so uptight that it would not allow the least bit of individuality in its communications? Or a place with zero sense of humor? I think not.

Cover letter wouldn't fly in almost any other industry, but I suppose it might for a writer position in a small video game firm. Too informal and unprofessional IMO. Also, there's a slight mistake (" one listing all my copywriting jobs and one my
detailing my corporate career."). You'd think it's a small mistake, but recruiters can get irked by it and it's easy to drop your application in the trash when there are 50 more to choose from without mistakes.

Good luck though.

Good luck, I think I would've left out that last sentence but it was good nonetheless.

Good luck! And your odds with that last line depend entirely on the company culture.

Vibes!

I hang around a lot on the Remedy forums, great guys.

Maybe you should have mentioned why you wanted to work for Remedy specifically. Because that's what they want to know.

I mean, Remedy are known for their intense story-driven action games. That is their core business.

EDIT: Also, Alan Wake coming to PC February 16th, on Steam, but a retail version will also be published by Nordic Games.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare February 22nd, on XBLA. Not an arcade game, but a full-blown game, like the original, just shorter in length and a little more action-oriented.
