It's a company run by the lead developer for many classic adventure games like Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle. They wanted to make a new adventure game (as said in the video), but couldn't find a publisher to make it happen. Thus, the kickstarter.

You didn't! There's 32 days left! Just because they met the goal doesn't mean it's over. Any further money will go toward porting it to other platforms, additional funds for voiceover work and music, additional production for the documentary, and more. And of course, you get the reward for whatever level you pledge.

Considering Notch said today that now he realizes it was bad timing because of this project, yes, terrible assumption.

As long as this is recorded as part of the documentary, then I'm still OK with my money being spent in this manner.
