I've never had any problems with their internal drives. A friend of mine has that model in 1tb and it seems to do fine.

Owned several Seagates, never had one fail. Then again I've never had ANY hard drive fail. I only use Seagates now when I build PCs because of the success I've had with them.

Seagate seems to be the go-to brand in my town

Never had a Seagate fail, although the USB controller for the external drive died. Been living as an internal ever since with zero problems.

Honestly when it comes to HDDs just avoid anything that sounds like an obvious pile of ****, same goes with RAM.

I've had a lot of hard drives, three of them died on me, two of which were Seagate and one was a Western Digital.

This was something like 8 years ago though.

A friend of mine also had a Seagate die on him and another friend a Western Digital.

Just so you know.

The only thing I've seen kill seagate drives is raid arrays.

But I don't think you can raid an external. You'll probably be okay.

They used to be great.
And then they purchased Maxtor.
Now they are not so.

On the subject of hard drives; I'm saddened at the hard drive shortage... my secondary HDD died recently. .(

I said pile of ****, not ****pile! I would never insult ****pile they are the most stable HDDs on the market, if you can afford them.

Never had a drive fail on me, WD or Seagate. Drives seem pretty reliable these days when used under average consumer conditions, so just maintain regular backups, don't fret over it, and buy the cheapest one?
