Anyone get the PC version of Max Payne 3?

It came out today, but it doesn't look like any reviews are out for it yet. I'm mostly concerned about whether or not it's a horrible PC port of the console version or not. If it is, I'm not going to bother with it, but if they did a good job on it, I'll probably pick it up.

My expectations are fairly low given the recent history of Rockstar games on PC (I'm looking at you, GTA4)...

I'm interested. If I hear it's good, I'll pick it up when I git a new peecee here soon.

It's not a port. All three versions (PS3, PC and 360) were developed independently and side-by-side.

The game looks and plays stunningly on the PC. Just make sure, if you're on W7, you run it in compatibility mode for Vista SP1, otherwise you'll get annoying crashes during the lengthier cutscenes (well, I did).

Went ahead and got it. Didn't get to play much yet. Seems like they did a good job on the PC version though. Looks pretty good, runs incredibly well, and feels like Max Payne to me.

Thats what was detouring me from getting it.

I really really wanted to like the first two games. I have em both, ive played em both.

I could never see what was so entertaining about it. It was more annoyed with how much of a little girl max is while i was playing.

"The past creeps up behind you like a fat girl at a salad bar, only she doesn't get regular salad, she gets pasta salad. Its a carb *****. Its not healthy just because it says salad."

IDK, it just seemed like everything that was ever said in that game was over the top and would have been better suited on days of our lives.

The only reason i was thinking about getting this one was because i though they may be going in a different direction.

Ya know, less whiny little luke, more han solo.

o_O Max Payne is an over-the-top, take-on-the-world, make-fun-of-a-guy-as-he-beats-you-with-a-baseball-bat macho hero, how on earth you can find him whiny I do not know.

I just beat it last night. Now going through for all the golden guns. This game is fun. And multiplayer isn't too bad, either.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

Me too! It's rare for me to enjoy playing through a game again so soon after finishing.
I haven't tried the multiplayer though, probably won't ever >_>

Like I said, it isn't too bad. I like what they do with known cheaters. Quite funny. I also have tried the Arcade modes too. Those are pretty nice and give you something to shoot for. I'm actually surprised how easy those early levels are compared to the last few. Just insane. And the real kicker is I never noticed the difficulty ramp up as much. It did it so subtly I never noticed.

Any word on it being moddable? All the old OTT mods for Max Payne 2 were fun as ****.

Heh, modern (non-Valve) games being moddable.

Honestly I'd wait - Amazon is supposed to have the steam-activatable version on sale 7/1-7/4 for $29.99. (Oops I was assuming you were purchasing for PC)

Honestly, I didn't get very far in my second playthrough, but that speaks more to the detriment of long unskippable cut scenes than anything else.

I don't know if I'm more annoyed or entertained that it references Man on Fire so heavily...
