Well, FC3 is out.

I enjoyed the SP campaign, even though I wish pirates could re-take outposts and there were more quests after beating the game.Maybe the modding tools will allow you to make SP adventures in the future, unless they keep it strictly multiplayer. That would suck. The multiplayer is pretty much a watered-down version of CoD. Yeah, it's that bad. MP and co-op use matchmaking. Ugh. Co-op is.... okay. Unless you count the numerous bugs, crap system based on multiplayer profile, jerky AI (which wouldn't even bug me if there was an open-world multiplayer), and borders. What I mean by borders is that annoying message you get in games telling you to 'return to the fight!' before it kills you. Just plain stupid.

I think Far Cry 3 has great potential as long as the mod tools allow for creating your own single-player instances, even if there are no missions. If they gave a bit of love to co-op, or added the one thing people wanted most; ACTUAL co-op campaign (or just open-world MP), I think this game would survive for at least a few years.

My verdict is 7.5/10. Gorgeous visuals. Was very much engrossed in the campaign with the cool skill tree, executions and treasure hunting. Head & shoulders above Ubi's previous attempt. FC2 was atrocious. I cannot, however, recommend the game if you are looking to play online. It's fun if you have nothing else to do, but I'd rather play solitaire.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said, I would give it a higher rating myself but then I'm not too concerned with multiplayerness

I enjoy this game very much. I give it ten fish heads!
