My anti-virus software has been hassling me for the past few weeks to update my virus definitions, registration, blah blah etc. I finally got tired of it (and happened to be online at the time) so I decided to just let the damn thing update. I wasn't using it at the time anyways, so it wasn't going to exactly be wasting my time. And it can never hurt to be up to date. So I let the thing update itself.

I came back to the computer about 20 mins later once it was done, and it told me I had to reboot. So, I did that, and wandered off. When I came back, I had discovered my anti-virus software had notified me that it had discovered two viruses, and it had deleted them. "Hrm," I thought, "perhaps I should do a full system scan, just to be sure."
It'd been a few weeks since my last ad-aware scan, and a few months since the last virus scan, so I thought I should do one. The ad-aware brought up 8 results, which were promptly deleted, but what the virus scan brought up was most interesting...

I'm not worried about the last 24 files - they are apart of a program I have which will remain nameless, however the other 89 gave me quite a shock.. I havn't had a problem with my rig for probably 8 months now.. I'm amazed that I could possibly have 89 viruses and have the computer even booting up. It's absolutely incredible... It seems I've got bugs crawling out of my computer from everywhere! Will it never end?! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

What is your main browser?
Your mail application?

And that software to remain unnamed, is it filesharing software? There are spyware-free programs, you know

Main browser was IE. Bring on Firebird.
I guess my mail application would be Outlook Express.. but I rarely ever use it. But it's probably where most of the viruses came from.

And the software to reamin un-named is not file-sharing software, and the file-sharing software that I do use is spyware free. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
