I decided I'd had enough of IE's consistent moronic problems and issues, the most annoying of which recently has been it's decision to deselect the window everytime the enter key is pressed. It wasn't spyware, I saw no system process that was doing it, it was just flat out being a POS.

So I grabbed Firebird. So far, I'm reasonably happy with it. I just want to know a few things.

1) How often do I need to download a new copy? Or are there smaller updates that I can grab? I assume the latter will be the case, but still, how often?

2) While browsing through the themes, I noticed that a great portion were "Incompatable with my build". What exactly is this? I have the latest version (0.7) so are themes not backwards compatable?

3) Anything you really recommend I download for it?

I think that's all. Thanks.

Get tabbrowser extensions.

As far as how often to upgrade, just wait until the next stable version comes. That will be 0.8 and it's coming fairly soon. (I personally have the latest branch build, but I don't know if I'd recommend it for all.)

1. Depends on when point releases come out. I don't think they have plans for incremental upgrades.
2. No, unfortunately. The XUL developers have been breaking compatibility every point release for a while now, but they've apparently settled on a format that should last.
3. Adblock.

The Firebird dev guys changed the wording of the widget handles recently, which broke all the existing themes. You can Google for a manual fix, or wait for the theme authors to fix them.
