Why not instead send money directly to the artists?

You know, by sending MP3s to the RIAA, you'd be performing the action which they are suing people for doing - uploading an Mp3.

By sending them back, you're giving them incriminating evidence against you on a silver ****ing plate.

Yes, and no.

For one, if you printed it out, they would never be able to tell what song it was, merely that is was an MP3. That in and of itself isnt incriminating.

Two, if all the file-swappers in the world started emailing their collections to the RIAA's inboxes, all at the same time, it would quickly bring the RIAA's email server to their knees. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Three, if even a handfull of people started faxing in MP3's (which, BTW, can be done alot easier with a computer...), it would quicky cause the RIAA to loose the use of their fax machines.

In short . . . it depends on which instructions you follow. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Wouldn't it just be more effective to continuously fax them a blank sheet of paper?

Well look at it this way: Your 6000 sheets of paper might just cost the destruction of a rainforest, and loss of habitat kills animals...

Stupidity kills, people! We should regulate it or something.

My CDR's are 650 mb [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I think if you burn the CD as a data cd and not a music cd you can fit 200 mp3s on there.

And is this thing actually serious? Or is it a joke in the fact that it's stupid, or that it's a prank. I am confused now.

Or you can use the option of burning it as an MP3 CD. I could fit around 150 tracks onto a 650MB cd.

If you have REALLY low quality mp3s, you can fit like 300+ on a CD. We're talking like 96 kbps and lower here, like 1.5-2 megs a song. It IS doable, and if you have really crappy speakers and an MP3 player in your car, it makes sense. Having neither crappy speakers nor an MP3 player, though, I just stick to music CDs when I'm in my car. Just keep your CDs in a wallet under the seat. It's really easy.
